Plant Description:
Vietnam is renowned regions for cultivating green-skinned pomelos. With high economic value, green-skinned pomelos are transforming the lives of Vietnamese farmers. As of December 2023, Vietnam has 3000,000 hectares of green-skinned pomelo orchards.
The period from planting to the first fruit typically spans 2-3 years. Starting from the age of 4, pomelo trees will yield stable and uniform fruits. The period from flowering to harvest lasts about 7-8 months, depending on the season, tree age, and growth conditions. When ripe, the oil sacs in the peel expand, the peel becomes taut, and its color changes. Pomelos are harvested in cool weather to avoid harsh sunlight, which can cause the oil sacs to swell and rupture. While green-skinned pomelos produce fruit year-round, the main harvest season is around August-September in the Gregorian calendar.
